About Me
I am currently Director of International Trade and Intellectual
Property for the Business Software
Alliance. In general, I handle the international portfolio at BSA,
working with the various Federal government agencies that deal with
trade and IP policy, and coordinating with the policy people in our
overseas offices.
From 1996 until 2004 I held a number of positions in
the Library of Congress, most of them
as a senior policy advisor in the
US Copyright Office. While I
worked at the Office I participated in the negotiation and drafting of
several
free trade agreements, as well as numerous elements of domestic
copyright legislation. I headed the Office of Policy and International
Affairs for two years.
Prior to joining the Copyright Office I was in private practice in New
York.
In addition to my day job at BSA I periodically teach law school
classes on copyright. Over the years I've written or coauthored
several papers and articles on copyright-related subjects. I hope
to post them here at some point in the not-so-distant future.
I'm a graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School.
I'm married with three kids (all boys) and live in the Maryland suburbs
of Washington, DC.
